MONTROSE – The Montrose Board of County Commissioners granted the Montrose Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees permission to enter into a yearlong lease agreement with Region 10 for office space at their March 18 meeting.

The MMH BOT had signed the lease agreement for office space located in the Region 10 building at 300 N. Cascade Ave. in October, but without securing BOCC approval. Citing state statutes, the BOCC directed the MMH BOT last month to bring them a new lease agreement proposal for approval.

At that time, County Attorney Robert Hill opined that the commissioners could approve the lease retroactively, but commissioners Ron Henderson and David White disagreed, and called for the MMH BOT to draft a new lease agreement for their approval.

This time around, the trustees received approval on the lease agreement with no opposition from the commissioners.

“We’ve got our t’s crossed and our i’s dotted this time,” Board of Trustees President Donald Vacca said.

The amended lease is effective from through Feb. 28, 2014.
