LYONS – On its own, the announcement that Lyle Lovett will play at the 37th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival is reason enough to buy tickets now.

Lovett “is one of our great American songwriters,” says Bluegrass promoter Craig Ferguson, going on to praise Lovett as “insightful, deeply musical, enormously entertaining, and thoroughly unique.

“Bound to no single genre, Lyle's music traverses folk, country, gospel, blues, jazz via the common language of wit, grace, and soul. When Lyle is on-stage every musician at the festival is either giddily enjoying his music from the front row or trying to find a way on-stage to be a part of his singular musical energy.”
Joining Lovett onstage during the four-day festival are www.bluegrass.com Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, who in 1990 won the Telluride band contest as Dixie Chicks. Twenty years later, the superstar sisters (13 Grammy Awards, over 30 million records sold) return to Telluride Bluegrass to introduce their newest musical project, the Court Yard Hounds. Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile grabs listeners like a revelation – thanks to “the raw power of her voice and the conviction to let it loose, as a critic declared recently in the New York Times.

And finally, HYPERLINK "http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/lineup.html" \t "_blank" completing the 2010 lineup: Keller & the Keels, uniting one-man jamband Keller Williams with his fiery bluegrass friends Larry and Jenny Keel and singer-songwriter-cellist Ben Sollee, who will suspend a voice of pure Kentucky soul over his strummed and bowed cello and an impeccable ear for melody.
All this, and Alison Krauss & Union Station, Yonder Mountain String Band, Leftover Salmon, the Sam Bush Band; Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer; Jerry Douglas; Punch Brothers; Dave Rawlings Machine; Josh Ritter; Tim O'Brien Band; Imelda May; Mumford & Sons; Edward Sharpe; Carolina Chocolate Drops; Hot Rize; Del McCoury Band; Peter Rowan and much more.
Four-day festival passes, camping and lodging are now available at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. Single-day tickets will be available in the next few weeks, along with the final announcements of single-day lineups. In the meantime, check out the festival lodging page for the latest specials.

The festival is built around the many artists that have defined the Telluride Bluegrass sound. The weekend is sprinkled with inspired sets from Peter Rowan, John Cowan, Sam Bush Band, Béla Fleck. Del McCoury returns to Telluride to celebrate his 50th year in the music industry. Yonder Mountain String Band celebrates their 11th year; Leftover Salmon celebrates their 20th year as a band - a band that formed in the Town Park campground jams of Telluride Bluegrass.
