MOUNTAIN VILLAGE –To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government, earned a degree (preferably in public administration or a related field) and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.
“We’re please that Greg has earned this accreditation, and proud to have him as our town manager,” Mayor Bob Delves said.
Highlights of Sparks ICMA membership include serving on the ICMA Council of Governments Committee and the 2005 ICMA Conference Planning Committee. In addition, Sparks has made significant contributions to a number of other government organizations, including the board of directors for the League of Minnesota Cities and the Colorado Municipal League Policy Committee. For his work on rural issues in Minnesota, Sparks received the 2007 Award for Distinguished Rural Leadership from the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities. As for his time spent as Mountain Village’s town manager, Sparks is a member of the Colorado City and County Manager Association, is active with the Colorado Association of Ski Towns, and currently serves as the board chair of the San Miguel Regional Housing Authority.
What is now needed is a comparison to all the other "professional managers" and we can figure out how much more we need to pay this guy "just to keep him"
Here is an idea-lets cut costs and run the village with some common sense..
