‘Meet Me Downtown’ Starts Friday, in Montrose

MONTROSE – Downtown Montrose is getting ready for the season with the theme Meet Me Downtown for the Holidays, starting with the Christmas Stroll along Main Street on Friday, Nov. 25, that begins with the annual lighting of the town’s Christmas tree at 5:30 p.m. Most stores will stay open until 9 p.m., serving hot drinks and treats, and Santa will be in his cabin at Centennial Plaza.

The Montrose High NJROTC will present colors, the Montrose High School bel canto choir will perform, and Amy McBride of the Montrose library will read ’Twas the Night Before Christmas. Santa will arrive at 7 p.m. Check the schedule for Santa’s Cabin in Centennial Plaza at After the Community Tree Lighting, join the Christmas Stroll on Main Street, with hot drinks and treats and local shopping specials and most stores open until 9 p.m.

The fun continues Thursday evenings through December, with many stores offering shopping specials, from 4:30-8:30 p.m., said Scott Shine, director of the Downtown Development Authority.

On Saturday, Dec. 3, from 3-5 p.m., the DDA will host Merriment on Main Street, with Christmas shopping specials, carolers, shopping discounts, drawings, and fun activities for all ages, followed by the annual Christmas Parade at 5:30 p.m., on Main Street.

And Montrose Bucks are now on-sale for the holiday season, with a minimum purchase of $100 for 20 percent discounts and a maximum of $1,000 per family. The sale runs through Dec. 2 or until the ceiling of $50,000 is reached. Ridgway’s Resource Hosts Holiday Event

RIDGWAY – Start your holiday shopping while your kids make holiday ornaments at Resource, the artisans gallery in Ridgway.

On Friday, Nov. 25, from 12-5 p.m., Resource artists will show children how to use introductory blacksmithing tools to hammer metal into beautiful ornaments. For $5-10, children can choose and make their ornaments, while parents shop. Tea and cookies will be served.

Resource Gallery, at 540 Sherman St., features handmade works of art including jewelry, ceramics, handcrafted bags, custom furniture, fine art paintings, metal work, hand-blown glass tableware and more!

Montrose Community Band Annual Christmas Concert

MONTROSE – The Montrose Community Band Annual Christmas Concert takes place Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3 p.m., at the Montrose Pavilion.  The free concert, titled A Christmas Journey, features many classic and modern holiday favorites such as Sleigh Ride, Cowboy Christmas, Selections from Polar Express, Secret Agent Santa and more.  The band is pleased to have Kari Hepner, a former band member, as emcee, and Colorado Tool and Sport as the sponsor for this concert.  For more information visit or call Tina at 970/596-1188.
