MONTROSE – Ricky Dean Steele was born June 1, 1962 in Ralston, Okla. He graduated in 1980 from Telluride High School and later attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. He worked for the last 20 years in radio as a DJ, and was well-known as a morning-show host on 103.7 the Blast.

Survived by his sister, Kimberly Farnell, and brother Robert Steele, Steele was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Steele. Rick will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. There are times in your life when you rely on the strength of others - those who offer you their love and their prayers; those who go beyond the normal measures and exceed all hopes or expectations, just to bring comfort and hope into someone’s life. We give to you our deepest thanks, to each of you who so tirelessly gave of your time and energy, and who gave up time with your own family to help search for one of ours. We are truly indebted to you, and touched by your acts of love. And though we mourn, yet we rejoice that our brother shared his life with such caring and generous friends and neighbors. It is with heartfelt gratitude that the family of Rick Steele thanks each and every one of you. Special thanks to the Montrose County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff’s Posse for their endless work on this case. And finally we wish to thank all of Rick’s co-workers and close friends at 103.7 the Blast, for walking beside us during this difficult time. You were treasured in Rick’s life, and are treasured now, in our lives, as well. A memorial service was held Saturday, July 31 at Grace Community Church.
