Another banner year for Nordic skiing in the region! Between the snowfall and the first class grooming, cross-country skiing was fabulous. It was made possible by the organizations and people who donated money, time and energy to the Telluride Nordic Association. Thank you all.
Thanks to our largest contributors: The Telluride Foundation and San Miguel County, who each donated $10,000 to TNA. A special thanks goes to Susan St. James, a member of the Telluride Foundation Grants committee who took the time to research our organization. The County not only helped out TNA financially, but also paid for a staff person to help with grooming. If you skied Priest Lake this year, you will know what a difference it made.
Thanks also goes out to our smaller contributors, those who donated for single trail use, those who became members and those who gave us smaller grants like Town of Telluride through CAASSE. The Town of Telluride also donated in-kind mechanical help when possible. The Parks and Rec Department maintained the Town Park in mint condition all season and went above and beyond the call of duty.
The Telluride Nordic Center operated like a Swiss watch with Midnite Scholtes at the helm. His dependable and courteous staff nurtured many beginner skiers who developed into Nordic converts with good memories and lots of smiles.
Kudos to our head groomer, Peter Rowland, whose tireless efforts made the first class ski track on the Valley Floor possible.
TNA was helped out by a strong core of volunteers who helped with grooming, equipment maintenance, ski clinics and events. Thank you to Tom Tr¬eder, Milt Spor, Edwin Schlapfer, Bill Miller and Cindy Farny. A special thank to our board members, who spend countless hours keeping the groomed trails available.
Thank you to everyone who used the Nordic trails for Nordic skiing. If you used the groomed trails (whether as intended or not) please contribute to TNA. You can donate online at Telluridetrails.org or mail your contribution to PO Box 1784, Telluride CO 81435.
Keep on Track,
– Telluride Nordic Association
