Editor:

On behalf of the Wilkinson Public Library I would like to thank the Town of Telluride, the Telluride Institute Watershed Education Project, the Telluride Teachers and the library staff for preparing our community to live with bears in a way that preserves all forms of life.

The Town of Telluride provided three sell out performances of the Watershed Education puppet shows “Out of My Hair Ski Area Bear” and “Danger! Beware! Garbage Bear!” Through these entertaining medium children learned what bears need to eat naturally, why they are attracted to human and pet food, and how to secure our town and surrounding areas so that bears stay safely in the forest.

The Elementary School Teachers supported this effort by making time in their busy schedules to attend and ensure that the children would be equipped to live in a manner that sustains bears. The Town also provided educational coloring books filled with bear safety and preservation tips. In support of Bear Awareness week the library staff provided bear themed story times all week long! Thanks to all who participated in this effort to live harmoniously with these amazing creatures.
