One of the first things we visited nearly 18 years ago when we moved to Ouray County was the historic courthouse. I had seen the courtroom many times as I watched the original True Grit on numerous occasions. While I have made a conscious effort to avoid all courtrooms since I concluded my past life as a judge, deputy sheriff and legal specialist in Arizona, the Ouray Courthouse is an exception.
Now 125 years old, it holds the history of our beautiful part of Heaven. As an election judge for a dozen years or so, I have spent weeks inside this remarkable building. A birthday party will take place on August 22. I plan on attending and I hope you will do so as well. In addition to the celebration, the effort will raise funds to fix up this outstanding piece of history. Best regards.
