TELLURIDE – The Telluride Playwrights Festival welcomes actor and playwright (and the voice of Homer Simpson) Dan Castellaneta, with his wife and writing partner, Deb Lacusta, to this year’s festival, July 23-28.
The couple will debut their new play, The Banana Tree.
“This year we are collaborating with the Bloomington Playwrights Project to bring you two fabulous new plays,” says Artistic Director Jennie Franks.
So mark your calendars, make your travel plans and tell all your friends not to miss all the great events we have in store for you this summer.
Also debuting is Arun Lakra’s new drama, Sequence, winner of the 2011 Grand Prize at the Alberta Playwrighting Competition. It involves science and in particular, cracking the genetic code for whatever it is that creates luck.
The festival also presents informal readings of Rich Orloff’s latest play, Chatting with the Tea Party, and Los Angeles comedians Zachary Steel and Adam Carpenter’s new off-off-Broadway show Me Rich, You Learn! for a late night showing at the Sheridan Opera House.
The weeklong festival will be kicked off by SPARKplaySLAM, with both locals and festival company members at the Steaming Bean displaying their talents, and with SPARKImprov night at the Sheridan Opera House, featuring locals, students and special guests Deb Lacusta and Dan Castellaneta.
SPARKy Productions is in the process of offering SPARKsalon memberships to all SPARK events. Tickets for the Festival will go on sale July 1. For more info, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
