MONTROSE – He hasn’t officially accepted yet, but the new Downtown Development Authority board has offered the job of first-time DDA director to Scott Shine, senior planner for the city of Montrose.

DDA Board President Bob Brown said that after meeting in executive session Monday, the board voted unanimously to offer the job to Shine.

“We made an offer to a really good candidate, Scott Shine from here in Montrose, and we’re waiting for a reaction to that,” he said.

Brown said he expects to have an answer by the end of this week and will be excited to have Shine on board, if he accepts.

“Scott is fully qualified for our job and we are very encouraged about his ability to move DDA forward, to get it established and to take it to new heights,” he said. Brown added that there might be some more negotiating with Shine this week.

Shine, who has been with the city for four years and was recently promoted to senior planner, said he needs to review the offer before accepting, but agreed that he will reach a decision by the end of the week.

“It’s just a matter of thinking about the terms and talking about it with my family,” he said.
