Editor:

I arrived home to Ridgway Saturday afternoon, from my part-time job in Montrose.

Opening my unread copy of The Watch, my eyes scanned the commissioners scared to death of the mention new tax article, and I felt compelled to write this letter.

I turn wrenches at Grand Mesa Motorsports in Montrose, which is owned by Montrose resident Kevin Anderson and Ridgway property owner and part-time resident Robert Mann.

As we were opening Saturday morning, we were greeted by four dirt bikers from Arkansas. They were asking directions up Highway 90, and some trail advice. I noticed some pretty worn tires on several of the bikes, and let them know we had new tires in stock and could install them quick! along with oil changes spark plugs or anything else they might need.

“Oh, no,” was the reply. Because of the anti gun laws that "my" state had passed, they were making a point of not spending any money at all in Colorado. They had spent the prior night at a motel in Farmington, New Mexico, where they ate two meals, stocked up on snacks for the trip and filled their truck with fuel. After a morning ride in "my" state they were spending the evening in Moab. That hurt, cost me money – and Montrose tax money also. I would have spent mine in Ridgway, most likely at the Colorado Boy, or letting Christine wash and groom my dog. Looks like Montrose could use theirs, too.

So thanks, “Hick.” I only hope other tourist are flocking in to "MY" state because they feel safe now without those terrible plus-15 round magazines being sold. Whatever happened to the mental health stuff, Hick? That might win back some tourists.
