TELLURIDE – The San Miguel County Library District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Thursday, Aug. 8, to discuss the employment of the Wilkinson Public Library Executive Director Barbara Brattin.
According to an agenda published Tuesday, the trustees will start the meeting by speaking to legal counsel, possibly in executive session.
Agenda item number three of the meeting also includes the possibility of the board meeting in executive session to “discuss personnel matters” concerning the “executive director and her employment by the district.”
Following that, the agenda states the board may come out of executive session and proceed with an “action item” on that personnel matter. Public comment will be taken after that.
Suggesting that Brattin’s job may be in jeopardy, the sixth agenda item for the meeting also includes an executive session for the board to discuss with its attorney to “determine positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations.”
Since its budgetary decision to close the library on Sundays at the beginning of this year, the trustees have been at the center of harsh public criticism of that decision with Brattin leadership often coming into question as well.
The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. in the Wilkinson Public Library’s Program Room.
