Ouray Boys and Girls Clinch Victories Over Ridgway Rivals in Early Season Matches

OURAY – Ouray High School varsity basketball celebrated two big wins over their Ridgway rivals last week, with the girls bringing down the Lady Demons 47-32 and the boys pulling out a hard fought Trojan victory 63-48.

The win was especially significant for the Ouray boys’ varsity squad, who fell to the Demons just days before 45-90.

The Trojans are now 2-1, and will host the Telluride Miners this Friday in Ouray.

Ridgway varsity’s record is 2-2, after they lost to Plateau Valley 46-51 at home last Saturday. They will travel to Mancos for games this Friday.

Ouray’s varsity girls basketball team also celebrated a satisfying win against Ridgway last week, in which coach Bernie Pearce says his players kept their poise in the face of tough Lady Demon offensive. “I am proud of our players' poise during these first three varsity games. In each contest, the other team has made several runs to close the scoring gap, and the girls have responded with timely shots or key defensive stops.”

Ouray’s girls varsity will hope to continue their undefeated streak this week, when they play Telluride Friday at home; Ridgway girls go on the road to Mancos on Friday.
