TELLURIDE – Telluride Ski and Golf Co. offers a Ski Biomechanics Camp, Thursday, Jan. 16-Sunday, Jan. 19, taught by Dr. Kim Hewson, an orthopedic surgeon, former director of Sports Medicine at the University of Arizona, and a lead Telluride Ski and Snowboard School instructor.

Hewson has refined a science-based biomechanics approach to ski instruction, used by TSSS over the last decade to improve the quality of ski school instruction. This marks the first-ever biomechanics camp available to anyone wanting to improve their skiing ability. The three-day camp includes video analysis, in-classroom learning, and on-snow application, all focused on learning to use the body as it is designed for skiing efficiency and fluidity.

For the past 10 years, this biomechanics approach has improved client lesson satisfaction, reduced injury rate and improved overall skiing skills for students.

Students benefit from the following: A ten-year instructor-tested successful program released to public for first-time; easier skiing enjoyed in a unique learning experience; an innovative biomechanical approach to alpine skiing; learning how the body works in ski maneuvers and discovering how to “stack” the bones so the muscles do less work.

Attendees also receive pre- and post-camp video analysis that adds to their absorption of special technical knowledge and improved skills
