Ouray County residents are fortunate to have three excellent, knowledgeable and inspiring candidates to vote for on Nov. 4.
Both Lynn Padgett and Heidi Albritton – Ouray County Commissioner candidates – inspire confidence with their knowledge of issues and grasp of the economic dilemmas the county faces. Having seen both of them in action, I am confident that they are capable of making good decisions for the county and of listening well to residents and their concerns.
Heidi, seeking a second term as commissioner, has grown steadily into her office, immersed herself in the issues facing the county and become a fine and assured representative.
I have served on both the Ouray Joint Planning Board and the Theobald-RPI Study Committee with Lynn. She has distinguished herself in both arenas with her perceptive questions, intelligent commitment to solving problems, and amazing capacity for work. Her scientific background and GIS capabilities will serve her well with the important issues facing the county, from land use to overall data organization and utilization.
In the State House District 58 race, Noelle Hagan – a former mayor and a city council representative from Montrose, is clearly the best candidate. With her impressive career and political accomplishments – such as organizing the campaign to build Montrose's impressive library building – we can expect she will represent us well in Denver. She knows water and energy issues, has a career background in hospitals and health issues, and more importantly, has good ideas and energy to bring to the Colorado Statehouse.
