TELLURIDE – The Telluride Foundation has added four members to its Board of Directors; they are part-time resident Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon; Alpine Bank Regional President Andrew Karow; Telluride Sports’ Scott Leigh and Megan McManemin.

“The Telluride Foundation’s Board of Directors has a diverse range of knowledge, talent and experience that helps us serve the unique character and needs in the Telluride community,” said Joanne Corzine-Brown, co-chair of the Telluride Foundation’s Board of Directors.  “We are thrilled to welcome the insight, experience and commitment to the community that each of these new boardmembers will bring to the Telluride Foundation.”

Armstrong, the retired chairman of the EDO Corporation, an electronics and aerospace manufacturer, was the commander of the Gemini 8 flight in 1966 when he performed the first successful docking of two vehicles in space.  As spacecraft commander for Apollo 11, Armstrong, alongside colleagues Mike Collins and Buzz Aldrin, completed the first landing mission to the moon. The holder of 13 world records in aviation and space, Armstrong and his wife, Carol, became part-time Telluride residents in 2001.

Alpine Bank Regional President Andrew Karow, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with an MBA from University of Denver, is a Wisconsin native; he lives in Mountain Village with his wife Katie and their two children. Karow serves on the Ah Haa School board of directors, the Telluride Tourism Board and the Town of Mountain Village Comprehensive Plan Task Force and Town of Mountain Village Ethics Commission.

Scott Leigh, regional manager for Telluride Sports, works in that firm’s Telluride and Mountain Village offices.  “I love this community and I feel lucky to be a part of it,” says Leigh, an avid skier, mountain biker, hiker and an automobile enthusiast who lives in Mountain Village with his wife Kael, and their dog Kona.

Megan Lenihan McManemin was born in Maryland, raised in Dallas and has a BBA from Texas A&M University. She worked in sales and marketing before became a mother and community volunteer.  McManemin currently sits on the boards of Planned Parenthood of North Texas board and the Telluride Academy, and volunteers at her daughters’ schools in Dallas. She is married to Casey McManemin and has three daughters.
