This past week I received many generous scholarships at the Telluride High School awards night that I will use in my quest to receive a college degree at Colorado State University.
First, I would love to thank our high school counselor, Karen Lavender, for all that she does. She makes it possible for us seniors to apply for these wonderful scholarships in the first place and plays such a major part in helping us get into college. This year she acquired more than $143,000 in donor funds.
Receiving these scholarships was very exciting and suspenseful; I applied for several scholarships but didn’t know which, if any, I was going to get. I thank each and every donor for their generous awards, including Strokes of Genius, Telluride Rotary Club, TAR Brooks “Hoot” Brown Memorial, Cody Simonian/Lizardhead Hockey Club, and Telluride Ski and Golf Company. Without their assistance, it would be very difficult for me to afford college.
I love Telluride and feel fortunate to have grown up here. The town in this tiny box canyon is like no other and I feel blessed been raised in such a loving, caring, and supportive community.
