The Town of Telluride understands the frustration that local businesses, residents and the tourist economy are facing here. As a government, we have taken our budget from its typical budgeting process and have prepared for the challenges in front of us. We are working with The New Community Coalition to bring forth ideas related with supporting the economy. We are looking for ideas from the community on how we can focus on supporting the local businesses. We support Noel Night and the start of this holiday season in Telluride; we support the community’s joint Thanksgiving Dinner, put on by the local churches; we also support Angel Baskets and the good work they provide to the families who are in difficult times during the holiday season. These three homegrown events are the real Telluride, and will be supported by all us of who believe in the future vitality of this amazing community.
As government officials, we understand what is in front of us. We will work with the community to make sure that during these unusual times the entire world is facing, that we will be more accessible, more understanding and ready to face our future openly and honestly. The times are difficult, the challenges are ever changing and our willingness to continue to work and make the hard decisions is never ending. We will continue to do our jobs to the best of our ability. Now, more than ever, is the time to work together to strengthen our core and to bring out the best that Telluride has to offer, not only for us, but for all our guests who have chosen to visit us in this magical valley we call home.
