Memorial services will be held in Norwood on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at a yet-to-be-determined location.
James was born on May 4, 1953, in Cortez, to Pete and Loree (Hamilton) Spor. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1972, and later attended Denver Automotive College, where he became a certified mechanic. HE had been a resident of the Delta-Montrose area for the past 23 years, and lived in Olathe for the last four years.
James married Patricia J. Vigil, who died in 2009, in a meadow in Beaver Park in 1982. He was an avid songwriter, and played the guitar, mandolin and drums. In his younger days, he was a member of the Hometowners band that played all over San Miguel County. James always loved the outdoors and a simpler way of life.
James is survived by his parents, Pete and Loree Spor of Norwood; by his son, Zec Vigil, of Montrose, stepson Josh (Portia) Vigil of Delta, and stepdaughter Garian Vigil of Lyons, and by his three brothers, John Spor of Grand Junction; Jerry (Janine) Spor of Norwood; and Joe (Elaine) Spor of Grand Junction; by his sister Linda (Eric) Loesch of Norwood; and by eight grandchildren.
