Colorado, Denver, the Pike’s Peak Region, San Miguel County – many regions and jurisdictions have begun honoring poets by naming them to the honorary position of poet laureate.
Thunder River Theatre’s Valerie Haugen has organized a poetry festival in Karen Chamberlain’s name, and elicited help from a lot of poets familiar to San Miguel County, including yours truly.
