Not quite a month ago, longtime Telluride resident Marianne Margaret Hamilton was diagnosed with the stage-four cancer that would quickly kill her.

“To All My Friends,” she wrote, “I’m not going to be with you this summer, in the flesh that is – for surely I carry you in my heart.  Thank you soooooo much for your love AND support and laughter, your grunting, groaning and breathing, setting up in the morning for yoga to ground into the earth and reach up to heaven.

“Thank you for celebrating life with me all these years in this fabulous, beautiful Blessed Place.  I love you all.

“Practice every day. Namaste.”

On June 6, she wrote her friends again, “I'm so grateful for the love being sent my way.  It's all so inspiring and healing. Don't forget to celebrate each day of your life.”

Hamilton died on Saturday, June 11, with her daughter, Erin Hamilton, and son, Abe Homer, at her side.

They wrote, “With all the light and all the love across the universe and in our hearts. Her assignment is complete. She collected the light that all of you shared and finally gathered enough to illuminate her way home.

“Goodbye sweet mama.”

A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, June 25, with the location to be announced. Visit

Hamilton has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Loving Light Fund, for her children; donations can be made by contacting any Wells Fargo Bank.
