The event, at the Ridgway 4-H Community Events Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. is open to the public and free. Expert speakers will discuss different aspects of rural broadband, improving bandwidth, and connectivity for Western Slope communities.
Speakers and attendees will include representatives from local and regional utility companies, economic development organizations, the Colorado Office of Information Technology, EAGLE-Net Alliance and successful partnerships that have improved bandwidth infrastructure in other rural areas.
“We’re bringing many of the top broadband experts in Colorado to Ridgway for this event,” said Ouray County Commissioner Lynn Padgett. “This is great opportunity for people to gain an understanding of our current broadband issues and ways we can improve connectivity on the Western Slope.”
“Significant progress is being made in addressing many of our collective broadband issues,” said San Juan County Commissioner Pete McKay. “Regional conferences provide attendees a lot of current information in one place, without travelling to distant locations.”
Operation Linkup is a regional coalition of governments, non-profit agencies, businesses and individuals working to improve broadband infrastructure, bandwidth and services in Colorado.
