OURAY – Three high school track and field athletes from the combined Ouray/Ridgway team have qualified for the state tournament, according to an email from Coach Bernie Pearce.

Following last weekend’s San Juan Basin League meet at Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction, the Ouray squad qualified three for the season’s big show at JeffCO Stadium in Lakewood beginning today, May 17.

Making the top 18 in Colorado this season are: Jasmin Braund in the 100m dash, with a best time of 13.44 seconds (set at the SJBL meet), ranking her 16th in the state; Jaxon Gaita in the long jump, with a statewide, 13th-best leap of 19’ 6.75”; and Kyle Cotton, who heaved the discus 130’ 6”, the 12th best in the state this year.

Congratulations to all the track-and-field athletes.
