TELLURIDE – On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) announced the Telluride Regional Airport will receive more than $4 million in Federal Aviation Administration grant funds to control erosion on the south side of the airport.

As part of the FAA Reauthorization Bill, signed into law with Bennet’s support last year, TEX will receive $4,019,159 from the FAA to improve erosion control.

“The Telluride Regional Airport Authority is thankful to the FAA for this grant to help us in improving the infrastructure of the airport,” Board Chairman Jon Dwight said. “This funding will help us control erosion on the south side of the airport so we don’t have another slide situation like we had a few years ago.”

“This grant is an important tool for the airport and for the Telluride community,” Bennet said. “It will allow for much needed improvements that will help keep the airport safe and reliable, which is essential to supporting economic development in the community.”
