MONTROSE COUNTY – While conducting a March 26 traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by Swayde Jones at the behest of the Seventh Judicial District Drug Task Force, Montrose County Sheriff’s deputies seized approximately 16 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 11 firearms and drug paraphernalia.

Two of the seized firearms were found to have been previously reported as stolen from another jurisdiction.

Jones and his passenger, identified as Michael Brown, were arrested on charges including drug- and weapons-offense charges.

Upon the discovery of the drugs, firearms and drug paraphernalia, Seventh Judicial District Drug Task Force agents were granted a search warrant for a storage unit where both parties had been seen, just prior to the traffic stop.

Upon executing that search warrant, further drug paraphernalia and suspected methamphetamine were seized, as well as two additional firearms, one of them an illegal sawed off shotgun.

Charges are pending in relation to the two additional items.
