Montrose Sheriff Seeks Information on Dog Shooting

MONTROSE COUNTY – The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about a dog that sustained a gunshot to its head sometime between April 21-23.

The yellow Labrador retriever was found climbing out of a canal in Olathe near Amber and 6000 roads on April 23. The dog was found to have sustained and survived a gunshot to the head from a small caliber firearm.

The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office responded and transported the dog to a veterinarian's office where it was kept overnight for observation. The dog survived without loss of vision or other impairments.

The sheriff’s office has located the dog’s owners, who noted that the dog ran away on Sunday, April 21.  Anyone with information about the incident is asked  to call 970/252-4023.
