Ben Wayne Lillard passed away at his home in Montrose on June 2, 2013. Ben was born on April 29, 1957 to Aubrey J. & Ardella A. Lillard in Montrose, Colorado. He attended elementary school in Telluride, Colorado before moving to Cedaredge, Colorado where he attended elementary school, middle school and then graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1976. He excelled in wrestling during high school.
Ben was a father, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law and uncle to his family who loved him. He made very special friends throughout his life with his outgoing personality and big heart. Ben loved his entire family and special friends, he loved life and loved to help people from all walks of life. He enjoyed big game hunting, fishing and rock hunting. He will be missed by all.
Ben worked as an electrician, a deputy sheriff for Montrose County and El Paso County, a Houston Metro police officer, a Montrose County jailer and a Norwood town Marshall. He was an EMT, an ambulance driver and a coal miner.
He is survived by his son Ben Jr. of Cedaredge, two grandchildren Mikaila and Wyatt, sister Sharon (Jerry) Albin, brother Gene (Deb) Lillard and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sheila Radebaugh.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Salvation Army.
