TELLURIDE – The University Centers of the San Miguel is offering a number of courses now that are short and savory. Wilkinson Public Library IT expert Joe Huff teaches “Mac Computer: Tips and Tricks” Monday, Nov. 18 and Wednesday, Nov. 20. For tips on online success, sign up for Jim Berkowitz’s one-night “What’s New (for Businesses and Nonprofits) in Social Media in 2013” Monday, Nov. 25. The fast-paced two-hour session covers critical social media updates and new technologies that businesses should be taking advantage of in the new year including new information regarding Google, Linkedin, Facebook and more. The course is a fundraiser, with 100 percent of all proceeds going back to UCSM.

In December, take “In the Know – Telluride,” a three-night course covering a different aspect of Telluride each night. On Tuesday evening, Dec. 10, U.S. Forest Service ranger Curtis Keetch will teach about the unique natural history of this area; the next night, local history expert Lauren Bloemsma covers the human history of the Telluride area. Finally, on Thursday, Dec. 12, Rick Trujillo, Ouray local geologist (and a former miner) will share his wealth of knowledge about the amazing geology about the watershed. Tourism-industry employers should send new employees to this class for an education about this unique and place.

All UCSM classes are offered from 6-8 p.m. on the second floor of the Miramonte building.

Save the date of Dec. 6 for UCSM’s third annual 103 Wine Tasting fundraiser at Hotel Telluride, 6-9 p.m. For more information, to register for classes or purchase fundraiser tickets, call Jeannie at 970/369-5255.
