OURAY – Pianist Robyn Wells will be performing a concert of classical music on Sunday, May 31 at First Presbyterian Church, 336 4th Ave. in Ouray. The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.

The concert to be presented features works by Mozart, Chopin, Saint-Saëns, Carpenter, Poulenc, Schubert, and others. The program is a celebration of musical forms, featuring impromptus, nocturnes, etudes, a sonata, and various styles representing different cultural histories. The music varies from lyrical and serene to a series of technical fireworks.

Wells received her master of music degree in piano performance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and her bachelor of music degree in piano performance from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. She held positions as staff accompanist at both universities. Currently, Wells is adjunct piano faculty at Albertson College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho.

As a soloist, Wells has performed with the Albertson College Sinfonia and the Miami University Symphony Orchestra, has been a featured soloist on community concert series in Idaho, Michigan, Massachusetts, and Colorado, and has given performances in Canada, Norway and Italy.

She has participated and won prizes in several piano competitions, including being selected as a finalist in the 1998 Award-Debut Competition sponsored by the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle. In 1998 and 1999, Wells spent part of the summer as a participant in the Sessione Senese per la Musica e l’Arte in Siena, Italy.

Since 1993 Wells has managed and performed her own series of concert tours, which to date have totaled over 220 engagements throughout the United States.
