Beloved mother, friend, and longtime Telluride local Patricia Ryan Jaeger died peacefully in her home in Montrose, Colo. Dec. 8, 2012.  Patricia, known as Patty, was born in Columbus, Ohio to Ed Ryan and Patricia Ryan on March 10, 1953.  Patty attended Ohio University where she graduated in 1975 with a degree in recreation.  Patty was married to Daniel Christian Jaeger in August 1983. Patty and Dan lived in Columbus where Patty worked as a teacher for the Association for the Developmentally Challenged.  Patty’s charisma and vivacity made her a perfect match for the many young children that she worked with, she had a desire to help people with disabilities and that compulsion never faded.

On Halloween of 1983 Dan and Patty arrived in the mountains of Telluride where they would come to call home.  In her early days in Telluride, Patty worked for the ski mountain in retail and for Alpine Lumber Yard, but found her true passion in interior design.  She worked at Interior Motives until early 1990, when her son Ryan Christian Jaeger was born.  Ryan quickly became the center of his mother’s universe when she chose to be a stay-at-home mother.  Patty also served on the board of Rainbow Preschool and was involved in many other community activities.  Once Ryan was older she began her own interior design business, Inner Space Design.  Patty’s greatest accomplishment was always her son Ryan, and Patty was his biggest fan whether he was on the hockey rink as a Telluride Lizard Head or on the soccer field as a star player for Colorado College.

Patty and Dan divorced in 2004, and several years later Patty relocated to Lake Havasu, Arizona.  Patty recently returned to the area and was living in Montrose.  She remained close with her friends in Telluride and was looking forward to reestablishing herself in the area. Telluride has and always will be home to Patty; she is survived by her beloved son, Ryan Jaeger, her two sisters, Amy Boyd and Marlaine Hampton, as well as a nephew Eddie Boyd and niece Aubrey Boyd.

A celebration of Patty’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Telluride, Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Telluride Adaptive Ski Program.  For more information about making a donation please contact Courtney at 970-728-3524, or a check can be mailed to PO Box 2254 Telluride, CO 81435.
